There seems to be a lot of these – one of the shirts from the ‘near miss’ seasons. The white away shirt from one of the seasons Wolves again missed out on promotion to the promised land of the Premiership.

It’s actually a very solid effort by le coq sportif and when unveiled it sold well. A lot of fans welcomed the return to traditional white and the sponsor, by Chaucer who were a company associated with Wolves director Bob Hazell, went well with the shirt styling.

Losing to them lot down the road or West Brom if you prefer meant it’s not remembered fondly. Any season where your top scorer is Jay Bothroyd with 10 goals… isn’t going to be a classic.

Better days would come, but not for a while.
